Malbec, a grape variety originating from southwest France where it is still found in Cahors wines, moved to Bordeaux where it enriched the Right Bank blends and then to Argentina where it acquired its nobility. The new destination for this rare variety is now Tuscany where it takes on a whole new expression.


Of course, it retains all the characteristics of its variety: an intense ruby, almost black colour, a slightly minty red fruit flavor in its youth and with age, a slightly chocolatey blackcurrant and blueberry flavour. But here in Tuscany, it has mellowed and although still strongly bodied, it has lost all the roughness of its French countryside origins…

We named it Cavaliere Gaetano after the historic founder of the Villa Cosmiana estate.  It is a wine as fruity as the land that bore it and as elegant as the estate where it was produced; a wine that finds its place in Villa Cosmiana’s range of fine wines.
